Scouters,
Along with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, this year’s Greek Independence Day Parade will also honor Scouting. In recognition of both the 100th Anniversary of Scouting, and the 50th Anniversary of the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting (EOCS, which is the national committee that administers the Scouting awards), the Boy Scouts will be one of the Grand Marshall’s, and our own Mr. Jim Athanasatos, SM of Troop 715 in Brooklyn, has been asked to accept the award at the presentation dinner on Friday the 16th April.
Parade is Sunday April 18th in Manhattan on 5th Avenue, starts 60th Street on 5th Avenue going northbound, and all units from Greek sponsored institutions will be in uniform and in the front of the parade. Our Troop extends an offer to our friends in the Council to join Troop 715 and participate in the parade.
Come in uniform or business attire, and march with us. You can contact me direct for more information. I hope to see you there!
Yours in Scouting,
Andrew Yiannakos, 917-837-2416 (cell) or 212-249-2293 (home).
